Community Development Program
Under Social Development sector, UT aims to address the immediate needs of the pro-poor rural people and the rural society as a whole. At the moment, our major activities are limited to following:
We have ‘home scheme’ for the destitute. We build a 24’ x 15’ two room home with a small verandah. It has pacca floor with tin roof. We provide about 40-50 homes per year free of cost.
Sanitation is another priority sector for UT. We designed a toilet with pucca base, tin roof and ceramic pan. External unit consists of cleanable 5 concrete rings. Each costs about Tk. 14,000/-. We provide about 1000 toilets per year per year free of cost to the rural destitute families.
Safe drinking water is also in our agenda, especially in arsenic prone areas. We provide about 40-50 Tube-wells every year free of cost; each costs about Tk. 15,000/- to 20,000/-.
We also provide monetary assistance to about 100 helpless families to overcome their immediate family challenge like marriage, debt payment and advance treatment etc.
UT caters considerable fund to assist in building mosques and religious institutions, especially in remote rural areas. On an average, approximately 100-150 such institutions receive our assistance per year.
It also works on the ‘Road Safety Programs’ and undertakes ‘driver’s motivation and health programs’ in various bus terminals in and outside Dhaka. In 2017, about 14 such programs were arranged in collaboration with BRTA, Highway Police, Traffic Police, Driver and owner’s Association. About 100 drivers attend in each program.

United Trust established a newly constructed Old Home named “M A Rashid Probeen Nibash” at Maloncha, Jamalpur to shelter the parents left out or neglected by their children. It was opened on 14 January 2019 to accommodate about 100 helpless old people. We have about 24 probeens at the moment. They would get free food, clothing, lodging and health care facilities. Idea is to give them a peaceful and predictable future for rest of their life. If goes fine, Trust plans to build such facilities gradually in other areas also.
