United Trust provides financial support to Odommo Bangladesh Foundation to ensure the education of the students by making the families of these disadvantaged students self-reliant. To create a permanent source of income for these families, the United Trust will provide year-round sewing machine training and new sewing machines for 22 parents in each batch and provide rickshaws or vans for 17 parents.
Following this, On 15th November 2020 the Dress Making & Tailoring training started with 22 trainees. The training was inaugurated via online video conferencing by Brig Gen AJM Fazlur Rahman (Retd), Executive Director of United Trust.
On Saturday 13th June 2020, Daridro Bimochon Prokolpo (DBP) of United Trust opened its 1st “Cattle Farming Pharmacy and Consultation Center” at Maloncha, Jamalpur. Happy to say that cattle farming is increasingly becoming popular and profitable amongst the DBP beneficiaries and reckonable percentage of them are engaged in cattle rearing. It is time that these beneficiaries should be supported with free consultation and quality medicine in cheaper price. A veterinary graduate Dr. Jakir and diploma veterinary will render their service in this center. Cattle farmers will have options to come physically or consult over telephone to take the service.
Daridro Bimochon Prokolpo (DBP) sector of United Trust had been running its “Interest Free Micro-Credit Scheme” for about 8 years from now amongst the ‘rural women’, ‘marginal businessmen’ and ‘farmers’. As of now, over 28,000 families are the direct beneficiaries of this scheme. Through this agreement signed on Thursday, 11th June 2020, DBP is set for its system automation which was the need of the hour.
United Trust, as part of its commitment to the society remains watchful to the marginal people who are devoid of their livelihood due to COVID-19. It just completed it Phase-2 “Food Support” to the hard hit people rural Bangladesh. It assisted about 6600 families in 7 districts: Jamalpur (2200), Kishoreganj (1700), Munshiganj (1000), Feni (1100), Cox’s Bazar (Teknaf-250), Gaibandha (220), and Narshingdi (130) starting from 10th May 2020 to 23th May 2020. Hopefully, happiness will prevail amongst these families during coming Eid ul Fitr.
While the country remains seized under the locked down situation due to COVID-19, a huge number of marginally paid people are also pushed to the walls who serve in various Bus and Launch Terminals and lives on the tips from the passengers. United Trust tried to respond to their calls as well. It is providing Sahari to 75 such people every night starting from 9 Ramadan and hope to continue till end of Ramadan In Sha Allah.
COVID-19 pandemic is hitting hard throughout the country not only on lives but livelihood of the socially marginal people. Rural Bangladesh is worst hit since majority of day earners come from rural areas. Like many other philanthropic organizations, United Trust also stood beside poorest of the poor in one Upozela each of Jamalpur, Kishoreganj, Feni, Netrokona, Rajshahi and Gaibandha during the countrywide shutdown.
Almost 3,000 families received food pack weighing about 14 Kg food items and necessary commodities. This was carried out from 6th to 11th April 2020. Number of families supported in various districts is: Jamalpur 1000, Kishoreganj 800, Netrokona 140, Rajshahi 125, Feni 652 and Gaibandha 200.
The United Family contributes 1 day’s Salary to United Trust, the social welfare arm of United Group.
The contribution will be utilized for providing food relief and other supports to the underprivileged communities throughout Bangladesh during the COVID 19 pandemic.
Ms. Farhana Afreen Mahmood, Head of Human Resources and Mr. Afzal Naser Bhuiyan, Head of Admin of United Group, respectively, handed over the cheque to Major Junayed Ahmed (Retd.), General Manager of United Trust and Mr. Ahmed Yousuf Hossain (Topu), Advisor to United Trust.
Mr. Nasiruddin A. Rashid, Director of United Enterprises & Co. Ltd. was present in the ceremony, among other guests.
United Group, one of the largest socio-economic infrastructure based business houses of Bangladesh, donated TK 5 Crores to the Prime Minister’s Relief & Welfare Fund on Sunday, April 5, 2020 to help combat the coronavirus outbreak in the country and for the citizens exposed to the outbreak.
Mr. Hasan Mahmood Raja and Mr. Moinuddin Hasan Rashid, Chairman and Managing Director of United Group respectively, handed over the cheque to Dr. Ahmad Kaikaus, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
United Group also volunteered to construct 1,000 houses for the underprivileged and develop the capacity and infrastructure of 30 to 50 Upazilla Health Complexes for the Government through United Trust, the social welfare organ of United Group. This development would be part of the Government’s drive to provide primary medical services, improve accessibility to such medical services and to provide social protection to the underprivileged and vulnerable citizens of the nation whose means of living have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the ceremony through video conferencing from Ganabhaban. The Prime Minister thanked United Group, including other organizations, for its contribution to the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund.
United Trust had been arranging free Digital Hearing Aid for the poor since 2018. After, Jamalpur and Munshiganj, this was the 3rd ‘Gift of Hearing’ Mission planned by United Trust for the people of Motkhola, Kishoreganj on 3rd February 2020 at M A Bari Sastho Kendro. 142 persons were selected for Hearing Device made and donated by Starkey Foundation, USA.
United Trust arranges this program every year jointly with the Rotary Club Dhaka North West and the Starkey Foundation USA. An elaborate process is followed. In Phase-1, a team of experts came from India for selection of recipients and took the measurement. In Phase-2, the selected persons will attend the second camp at Dhaka for fitting of appropriate Hearing Aid. Phase-3 is basically After Care Service that continues.
A simple ceremony was held on 23rd February 2020 to inaugurate a new three-storied building of Wahidur Rahman Health Complex (WRHC) with Eye Department added. The ceremony was attended by Mr. K M Ahsan Shamim, one of the founding Directors of United Group as the chief guest. Executive Director of United Trust Brig Gen A J M Fazlur Rahman (Retd.), GM (Trust), Major Junayed Ahmed (Retd), GM (Health) Dr. Anwar Hossain was, Mr. NI Azad, one of the patrons and other local elderly people were present in the program.
Wahidur Rahman Health Complex was established by United Trust in 2014 with only the outdoor facility. Gradually, a small Path Lab, an Ultra sonogram machine, an ECG machine etc. were added. Now added is the Eye outdoor and cataract operation facilities. This would, hopefully, benefit the local poor people to a great extent.
United Trust Organized a health camp at Vashantek Slum, Mirpur on 21st September 2018 in collaboration with “Kingstone Hospital” .It was “Ma o Shishu Camp” free health camp. A total 350 of slump dwellers (134 Child & 216 female) received medical services at the camp. Different types of diagnosis and medical facilities were provided to the patients at the health camp.
United Trust Organized a ENT Health Camp at Yunus khan Mahmuda Khanam Memorial Health Complex on Shammubari, Munshiganj in collaboration with “SAHIC”. A total of 270 ENT patient received medical services at the camp. Different types of diagnosis and medical facilities were provided to the patients at the health camp.
United Trust opened a new branch in Pakundia, Kishoreganj under Daridro Bimochan Prokolpo (DBP) on 7th August,2018. The ED of UT and GM of DBP were present at the opening ceremony. Chairman, Pakundia Upozila Parishad and Cooperative officer of Pakundia Upazila were also present as special guest.
United Trust Organized a health camp at M A Bari Sastho Kendro, Mothkhola, Kishoreganj on 12th July, 2018 in collaboration with “SAHIC”. A total of 785 ENT patient received medical services at the camp. Different types of diagnosis and medical facilities were provided to the patients at the health camp
United Trust organized “UT Inter School Debate Competition-2018” at Asiya Bari Adorsha Biddaloy in Mothkhola, Kishorganj on 15th March 2018. United International University debate team judged the completion. Asiya Bari Adarsha Biddaloy” won the competition and “Charteki Girls School” was runner up.
United Trust Organized a health camp at Sujot Nagar Ananda School, Mirpur-12 on 17th November 2017 in collaboration with “Kingstone Hospital”. A total of 511 slump dwellers (162 male & 349 female) received medical services at the camp. Different types of diagnosis and medical facilities were provided to the patients at the health camp.
United Trust organized a eye testing and general health Camp at Gabtoli Bus Terminal on 30th September, 2017 in collaboration with . “EKOK Attomanobic Unnoin Sangstha”. A total of 205 drivers screened at the camp to augment importance of road safety . The recipients availed the benefits of free eye and health check-up amenities along with giving access with the consultation of certified doctors and eye specialists.
Al-Amin Jamiria Kamil Madrasha organized Inter- School Islamic Quiz Competition-2017 on 26th September, 2017 in cooperation with BD education. A Total of 12 schools took part in the competition. Al-Amin Jamiria Kamil Madrasha won the champion trophy of the competition while Al-Amin Jamiria Fazil Madrasha secured runner up position
M A Gafur High School organized Inter- School Debate Competition-2017 from 24th to 25th September, 2017 in cooperation with BD education. A Total of 10 schools took part in the competition. Of the 10 schools, 08 were from Jamalpur District and 02 were from United Trust patronized schools namely Asiya Bari Adorsha School from kishoreganj and Nizkunjara High School from Feni. Maloncha Govt Girls High school won the champion trophy of the competition while M.A. Gafur High school,Jamalpur secured runner up position.
This year Jamalpur district has been affected badly by flood. Most of the upazillas in the district are gone under the water. The local inhabitants have been passing their days with untold sufferings. United Trust tried to extend their helping hands to flood affected people by distributing food at the flood affected areas. About 4002 packets of foods were distributed in different areas in Jamalpur.
Asiya Bari Ideal School organized Inter- School Quiz Competition-2017 on 10th August, 2017 in cooperation with BD education. Total 14 nos. of schools took part in the competition. Of the 14 schools, 11 were from Kishoreganj District and 03 were from United Trust patronized schools namely M A Gafur High School, Baluata M.A. Rashid High school, Jamalpur and Nizkunjara High School from Feni. Nizkunjara High school won the champion trophy of the competition while Baluata M.A. Rashid High school,Jamalpur secured runner up position.
Right to life and safety is a fundamental right of any citizen. This is guaranteed under the constitution of every country in the world including Bangladesh. Anything, which is hazardous to human, violates the right to life, and road safety is as much on the agenda as any other area, which may be accident-prone. In view of this, United Trust organized an awareness program on road accident at Gabtoli, Mohakhali & Saidabad bus terminal in collaboration with EKOK Attomanobik Unnayan Sangsstha to foster road safety knowledge.
To make learning more attractive, interactive & enjoyable for young learners, United Trust has launched School website, School Management Software, Digitalized content and classroom at Asiya Bari Ideal School at Mothkhola, Kishoreganj.
Giving one person the gift of hearing may seem like a small act of kindness, but it has a compounding effect on the future of our world. United Trust organized ‘ Free hearing aid program’ at Maloncha, Melandha, Jamalpur in cooperation with Rotary Club Dhaka North & Starkey. About 155 patients were finally selected to donate and fit hearing aid.
